Piravom is a town on the banks of the Muvattupuzha River in Muvattupuzha taluk, about 30 km southeast of Ernakulam, and was reclassified from a panchayat to a municipality by the Kerala government in 2015. It is known for Piravom Valiya Palli, one of the oldest Syrian Christian churches in Kerala, which stands on a hill on the eastern bank of the river, and for the Pazhoor Perumthrikkovil Shiva temple nearby.
