Palluruthy is a residential and market area of West Kochi, the water-bound western side of the city, and was a separate grama panchayat until it was absorbed into the Kochi Municipal Corporation when that body was constituted on 1 November 1967. It now hosts one of the corporation's zonal offices and sits on the Thoppumpady–Aroor road, just south of the Cochin Fisheries Harbour at Thoppumpady.
