Nedumbassery is a census town and grama panchayat in Aluva taluk of Ernakulam district, lying between Aluva and Angamaly roughly 26 km northeast of Kochi city rather than inside it. It is the site of Cochin International Airport, inaugurated on 25 May 1999 and built on filled paddy land near the Periyar river as the first airport in India developed under a public-private partnership.
